05 Nov 2005 Valderes's Birthday

One thing I like best in Brazil is, the Brazilian never find boring to
celebrate birthday for their friend or colleague. I can always feel their passionate and happiness most of the time which I am very much wanted to learn this from them (I believe I am doing quite good so far). Normally we will all celebrate during our lunch with a free compliment birthday cake (of cos depend on the restaurant).
Valderes is the lady that always make me feel so good when talking to her, cos she is so cool and steady most of the time. I always said that "How I wish I could be like her".
And I brought my camera with me today and before the lunch, I went around to take photos with my colleagues. We had a great time when taking photos too.

Iiha (Island) Fiscal on 06 Nov 2005

On that beautiful Sunday morning, we went to the Navy base (this island belongs to the Navy) at noon but was told that the ticket to Iiha Fiscal has sold out :( What a luck!
So both of us took a picture here to prove we had been here and then set off for lunch with the others. Well, well it's just another Sunday.

22 & 23 Oct 2005 - A weekend stay at Campos do Jordao ============================
Almost 5-6 hrs drive from Niteroi, we heading towards Jordao which located at the high mountains. That's why the weather is always colder than Rio but we loved the cold weather a lot (not too cold for sure). We were lucky to find a good pousada which have good view of Jordao.

Frank's Birthday 18 Oct 2005====================
Frank is the tallest colleague here and he is a nice friendly guy. I like his girlfriend too, a very nice lady which I believe a lot of guys would like to fall in love with. Frank invited us to his birthday party at his dad's house, and there I fell in love with someone, Eric...... a baby of my ex-colleague Luis.

I remembered the 1st poster I saw in Singapore about Brazil was this Corcovado. I feel so happy when I finally reach to the top of the mountain to be so close with the Christ.

More than a postal card, the Christ Redeemer statue was deservedly elected by the city’s population as the "The Wonder of Rio". From the height of its 38 metres – plus Corcovado Hill’s height of 710 meters - the Christ is an image of faith and the friendly nature which is a characteristic of the people of Rio and of Brazil itself. The monument – which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2001 - was inaugurated on October 12th 1931, the date on which Brazilians celebrate Our Lady of Aparecida (national patron). Elevators and escalators take visitors to the statue’s base. The statue weighs 1,145 tons. Climbing up by way of a small train, along the Corcovado Railway – inaugurated by Brazilian Emperor, D. Pedro II in 1884, takes around 20 minutes

Visit to Rio Zoo on 18 Sep 2005

I always love to visit Singapore Zoo as I feel good and happy to see those animals well taken care by the staffs (I know they lost their freedom but well, have to think of the bright side).
So when I knew that we were going to Rio Zoo on that Sunday, I was very happy but it did not ended up the same feeling after the visit. The zoo was not very well maintain, both inside and outside of the cages. And the thing that I am most upset was most of the animals look so sick (except for the parrots) and they are all alone in the cage. Can't imagine how those big animal like lion and tiger etc, live in those small cage. I can even feel my heart is still hurting when I am writing this right now :'(
So for those who went to Singapore Zoo before, you should appreciate a lot on the efforts the park had put into it.

Nightmare at Paris Airport 01 & 02 Sep 2005

I remembered this very clearly.
We waited for our flight at 11pm on 01 Sep and after long waiting, they annouced the flight was cancelled (due to...... who cares!). Then they arranged every passenger one hotel room to check in to rest as the replaced flight is at 9am the next morning. We waited for at least another 1 hr for the airport staff to arrange the hotel room. A lot of passengers started to complaint at their slow response, and of course me too. But I only complained to Dawn, poor girl have to listen to my complaining most of the time (in Rio too). Well we checked into the hotel, it was already 1 plus.
Well, we were told to check in at 9am so we woke up early and had the breakfast in the hotel before departure. Trust me, any Asian hotel serve better breakfast than them. I lost my appetitte at once.
We ended up waiting for the flight AGAIN till almost noon. So we play around with the camera while waiting. Of course have to smile a bit in front of the camera but did not say cheese this time!

Musee Rodin at Paris on 01 Sep 05

We still have to face the reality that we need to go back to work, no matter how long our vacation is. So sadly but continue to move on bravely, we were back to Paris (Yes, yes, it's Paris again cos we need to transit at Paris for almost 16hrs). I will sure go out if there is company, otherwise I will stay in the hotel to zzzzzzzzzzzz.
One of the museum in Paris, small but nice to visit. Too bad I don't know how to appreciate art, especially structure.
